Youth Coalition is a student-led drug and alcohol prevention program with added focus on school-specific issues such as bullying and mental health. The Youth Coalition promotes positive and healthy lifestyles by campaigning and bringing awareness to our schools and communities. Our vision is to one day reach all high school students in Columbiana County and Jefferson County with prevention campaigns.

Students in Youth Coalition become experts among their peers in leadership and prevention, and students work together to create different campaigns that raise awareness for the priority concerns among their peers. Students attend monthly meetings to plan campaigns for their schools, drive community outreach and awareness, and provide their peers with knowledge and awareness of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, mental health, bullying, and safe driving practices. Students who participate in the Youth Coalition program reap benefits such as:

  • Attending seminars focused on positive youth development
  • Planning prevention projects for their schools
  • Planning/implementing county-wide campaigns
  • Receiving leadership training
  • Becoming an expert among their peers in leadership and prevention
  • Creating long standing relationships with youth leaders across the county
  • Earning community service hours
